Formulated to provide up to 90 minutes fire protection on structural steel. A low odour white finish with high coverage rates and lower paint requirements compared to other intumescents. It is a single pack high solids waterborne thin film intumescent suitable for structural steel, beams and columns exposed to cellulosic fire. Ideal for the protection of steel buildings for 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 90 minutes fire protection. Designed for high performance and minimum environmental impact. Steelmaster contributes to Green Building Standard credits approved by LEED and BREEAM. EPD Verified. A low odour environmentally compliant coating CE marked by European Technical Assessment ETA-20/1297. Steelmaster 600WF is quality guaranteed by Exova Warrington Fire Research meeting the requirements of BS476 part 20/21 Certifire CF5631, ASTM E84 Class A and EN 13381-8. Tested to EN 13501-1 it has a Reaction to Fire Class B-s1, d0 . It is suitable as a finish coat internally or externally up to corrosivity category C3 (ISO 12944-2).

Surface preparation and coating should commence only after all welding, removal of sharp edges and treatment of welds is complete. Pilot QD is an approved fire tested primer. Ensure the primed surface is free from oil grease and other contaminants prior to application of Steelmaster 900WF. Jotun Steelmaster 1200WF is a single‑pack, high‑solids waterborne acrylic thin‑film intumescent coating independently certified to provide 90, 120 and up to 180 minutes (3 hours) fire protection for structural steel in cellulosic fires when applied to the specified film thickness over approved primers.
Jotun Steelmaster 1200WF is specifically described as “the ultimate in fire protection for lightweight and hollow steel sections”, engineered so that less paint is required to achieve 60‑ and 120‑minute fire ratings on complex, fast‑heating hollow and lightweight steel profiles.
Jotun Steelmaster 600WF is a one‑component waterborne thin‑film intumescent engineered to deliver up to 60–90 minutes of certified fire protection to structural steel, providing a cost‑effective solution for residential home extensions where 30 mins rating and public buildings where 1‑hour ratings are specified.
Jotun Steelmaster 900WF is a dedicated 90‑minute waterborne intumescent coating, positioned between 600WF and 1200WF, using enhanced waterborne technology to provide certified 90‑minute fire protection with low‑VOC, low‑thickness application on structural steel.
Steelmaster waterborne intumescents are designed for internal atmospheric environments up to at least C3 (ISO 12944-2), applied over compatible primers, giving durable adhesion and fire performance while offering lower VOC emissions and easier clean‑up with water than many solvent‑based alternatives.
All Steelmaster intumescent coatings must be applied over compatible, approved primers like Pilot QD and Penguard HSP ZP and can be finished with specified Jotun topcoats like Conseal TU to complete the fire‑protection system, ensuring adhesion, durability and certified performance.
Steelmaster WF products are independently tested and certified for structural steel fire protection in cellulosic fires, with CE marking and approvals from accredited fire test bodies.
