Surface Preparation
Surface preparation and coating should normally be commenced only after all welding, removal of sharp edges and treatment of welds is complete. Most primers will require the steel to be abrasive blast cleaned prior to application. Jotun Pilot QD zinc phosphate primer has been fire tested and recommended for most internal steelwork. For more corrosive environments Penguard Express ZP is the recommended primer. Ensure the primed surface is free from oil grease and other contaminants prior to application of Steelmaster. Should a final colour topcoat be required Jotun Pilot WF SM, Conseal TU and Hardtop HB are recommended. Both available in a range of RAL and British Standard Colours. For more technical information on Steelmaster 1200WF download the technical data sheet.
Steelmaster 1200WF has the ultimate fire protection with a 3 hours Rating. It is recommended on lightweight or hollow steel sections which will heat up rapidly in an intense fire. It is often specified on roof truss , braces and other lighter steel sections where only a one hour fire rating is required.
Quality Guaranteed by Exova Warrington Fire Research to protect I-sections, hollow sections, beams and columns with up to 3 hours fire protection.
