Monoguard is a high performance water based system for steel where abrasive blast cleaning is not practical or economically viable, an alternative to a three coat zinc rich primer, high build epoxy and polyurethane system. Applied to a dry film thickness over 260 microns it is recommended for highly corrosive C5-M coastal and heavy industrial C4 environments. It is fast drying, up to three coats can be applied in a single day enabling high productivity for steel fabricators and reduced site costs when maintaining existing facilities. Monoguard has excellent exterior durability and corrosion resistance for metal cladding, structural steelwork and steel equipment without the need for abrasive blast cleaning. It is non flammable and has low VOCs, low odour so can be applied safely during normal operations . It can be applied by Airless spray, brush or roller on steel, CorTen steel, cast iron, aluminium, stainless and galvanised steel.

High pressure water blasting is recommended to remove surface contaminants, loosely adhering paint and rust. Eco Powerclean is recommended for speed of cleaning. Allow to dry before applying two coats of Monoguard 100 microns per coat by Airless Spray. Allow 2 hours between coats.

Its unique properties offer incredible durability when protecting steel against corrosion without the need for abrasive blast cleaning.
Monoguard is designed as direct to metal paint, offering strong adhesion and corrosion protection on galvanised steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, steel and previously painted surfaces, when the surface is correctly cleaned and prepared to St 2. No abrasive blast cleaning is required.
Once fully cured, Monoguard forms a hardwearing flexible film that adheres to most metals including galvanised steel, stainless steel, aluminium and carbon steel. It also adheres to most previously coated surfaces including plastisol coated metal sheets. It is an anticorrosion primer finish ideal for maintenance of industrial buildings, equipment, process facilities and steel bridges. It is a waterbased technology recommended for applications where low flash and low odour products are required.
By combining primer and topcoat in a single product, Monoguard with its fast drying and overcoating properties, removes a full application stage, reducing waste and labour time, allowing projects to be completed faster with fewer products to manage. It can be applied in a single coat up to 100 microns by airless spray for rapid application on large commercial maintenance contracts.
Once fully cured, Monoguard forms a hardwearing flexible film that adheres to most metal cladding including galvanised steel and plastisol coated metal sheets. It will also adhere direct to most metal surfaces without the need for abrasive blast cleaning. It contains anticorrosion pigments with fast drying and overcoating properties, ideal for speedy completion of industrial maintenance projects on metal cladding and equipment. It is suitable for industrial C4 and coastal locations C5-M as the alternative to three coat solvent based systems.
Monoguard is available in a wide palette of RAL Classic and NCS colours in a subtle 15% satin finish similar to coil coated steel. These colours and the low gloss finish are popular in the building sector and offer unlimited colour choice for metal cladding, facilities maintenance and commercial building refurbishment projects. Formulated on waterbased technologies they are safer to use in low flash locations and are environmentally compliant coatings.
